Response to the Great East Japan Earthquake
Focusing the Group’s collective capabilities,
to achieve the quickest recovery possible.
To a new restoration stage
To recover from the extensive damage caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake as quickly as possible, during the five-year period it positioned as an “Intensive Reconstruction Period (Occurrence - FY2015)” the government executed a range of measures aimed at accelerating restoration.
The five-year period from fiscal 2016 will be the “Reconstruction and Revitalization Period”. The basic policy in which the government outlines its orientation positions this as the “final completion” period during which restoration in the areas stricken by the tsunami disaster will be completed, and outlines the achievement of a restoration effort that will serve as a model for regional restoration.
As Japan moves toward the new restoration stage, activities such as construction of the Sanriku Coastal Road, the Soma-Fukushima Road, and coastal surge barriers by municipalities, together with core programs such as the Collective Relocation Disaster Prevention Promotion Projects (relocation to higher ground), are being carried out as projects indispensable for recovery.
In the years ahead as well, the Kanamoto Group will strive to support this reconstruction and fulfill the mission of rentals as social infrastructure.
Restoration and recovery, in numbers
Five years have passed since the occurrence of the Great East Japan Earthquake, and steady progress from the multiple reconstruction efforts is clearly evident. The following data confirm the status of recent restoration from the viewpoint of “restoration urban development” to build “public infrastructure” and new places for victims of the disaster to live and work, centered on the transportation network.
